left:  drawing from 2009

right:  drawing from 2013

lol just wanted to make a comparison like this because as i was drawing the portrait on the right tonight i was thinking about how much easier drawing faces has become with experience.  When i was first learning, I used grids and definitely lacked important knowledge of not only the anatomy of the facial features, but also the whole concept of overlapping shapes casting shadows, and 3d things having thicknesses.  Also, like most beginners, I used a blending stump wherever there were shadows, which usually resulted in weird contrasts and literally no white spots.  i think both of these drawings took about the same amount of time to complete (2 hrs), and idk if u can tell (probably not) but the one on the left was supposed to be Claire from lost lol wow
